Service Level Slider

What is the service level slider? How do you change the slider?

At the Company Level hierarchy in Datarithm, pharmacy management controls permissions for Datarithm to upload increasing order points into the Pharmacy Management System. This function is called the Service Level Slider, accessible via the Settings tab in Datarithm:

Q: What do the various Slider positions mean, allow, and block?

Example: Per the IRW, current order points (Current OP/OQ or Min/Max) are 29/100 (pack),
while Datarithm is suggesting 100/100 (forecasting order points (Forecast OP/OQ or Min/Max)).
The midpoint of 29/100 is 79 while the Datarithm midpoint is 150. The midpoint delta is
therefore 71 units. 71 units x Unit Cost = $X. If $X is to the left of the Slider position, Datarithm
has sufficient permission and will send the increasing/higher-order points into the Pharmacy
Management System. If $X is to the right of the Slider position, Datarithm is blocked and will
send nothing.

The areas above, boxed in green are particular to the current Slider position of $250: 1,821 items would receive increased order points, with an immediate PO impact of $26,981 and a long-term impact of $35,869.

The areas boxed in red show the impact of moving further out to the right ($500 position): 2,123
items/$100,214 PO impact/$146,566 long-term.

Note: The further to the right the Slider is positioned, the greater the dollar impact and the lesser the number of items impacted (each item gets progressively more expensive). It is for this reason that the typical goal/plan is to gradually move the Slider to a final position approximately near the middle of the scale. If stock-outs become problematic, while the Slider could be adjusted further to the right, such a reaction can be quite expensive. As such, there are various smart alternatives to knee-jerk reactions towards expensive Slider adjustments as detailed next
